Dear future students of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute"!
You are welcomed by the Department of Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics (DEGCG).
NGiCG. History:
The department was founded in 1934 under the name "Department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics".
In different years, the department was staffed by Professor Yarin V.M., Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of the Ukrainian SSR, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Pavlov A.V., and artist Nikitin M.D.
Since 1971, the Department has become a well-known scientific and methodological centre for advanced training of university teachers. Teachers from universities of the USSR and Eastern Europe, China, and Mongolia studied at the department. The number of students was up to 500 per year.
The department received its current name in 1992 with the start of teaching computer graphics courses based on various graphic programs.
NGiKG. Today:
The department has 30 teachers. Among them are 5 professors, 10 associate professors, 12 senior lecturers. The scientific developments of the department's scientists under the leadership of Professor Vanin V.V. are widely implemented in aircraft construction, agriculture, instrumentation and medicine.
NGiKG. Teaches:
The course "Descriptive Geometry" - we study methods of depicting 3D objects on one (topography, construction, geology) and two-dimensional projections. It develops spatial imagination - a type of thinking with spatial images that a design engineer needs to develop new technical projects, patent research, and more.
The course "Engineering Graphics" allows you to master the basic knowledge, skills and abilities to create technical documentation. Drawings are called the international language of engineers. Mastery of it is an essential requirement for a modern qualified specialist.
The Computer Graphics course is dedicated to the study of the latest computer-aided design tools and systems. Nowadays, creating a 3-D model is a mandatory stage in the development and research of any technical invention.
The course "Web Programming and Design" introduces students to the basics of creating their own information resources using C#, C++, HTML, and Javascript.
NGiKG. Wishes:
First, a successful career as a student, then a successful qualified specialist. We hope that our joint efforts in education will someday make us proud of you as famous graduates of our common Alma Mater, the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute"!
